SMore#: Send Location to Car

With SMore# V1.5, you are able to send location information to the car. SMore# supports different ways of doing so:

  1. From Google Maps: When searching for or clicking on a point of interest, you can select the Button. A share dialog will appear and you select SMore# in the list of apps.
  2. As location: many apps, such as Contacts (to share your contacts’ address) allow to share positions of places as location, using the so-called geo intent or using a Google maps URL. For this, select the sharing button provided by the app and select SMore# from the list of apps (usually a smaller number of typical location-based apps).
  3. As text: You can mark text in, e.g., an email or website, and open the context menu (where it will show copy and paste usually), selecting there the ‘Share‘ option. Then again, select SMore# from the list of apps that will appear here.
  4. When long clicking on an address: in apps like Google Maps or Booking.com, you can long click on an address shown. You will see a small message, indicating that the address was copied. In order to use such address, you will need to add the quick tile to your notification shade. Then press this quick tile every time you want to send such long pressed address to the car. A dialog will appear after pressing, showing the address you copied and and sending the location after positively confirming.

For all addresses, SMore# will perform a reverse geocoding, i.e., it will resolve the coordinates of the address. If this fails, nothing will be sent to the car and an error is shown instead.

Usually, addresses will be sent rather quickly to the car via the Smart servers but a small delay may still occur. You can send several addresses, with the last one sent arriving last of course.

Right now, Smart does not use the place or address information to show anything in the navigation. This means that, unfortunately, any location sent to the car will show up as an empty field in your search history (although the coordinates are stored so you can still navigate to it, if you remember what it was you sent).

In case you find an app that shares location information, which either SMore# does not support or where SMore# does not show up in the sharing list, please drop an email via the Feedback menu in the app with information about that app you wanted to use!
