SMore# FAQs

  • What does SMore# stand for?
SMore# stands for “Smart More#”, indicating that we want to provide more functions and information on your Smart, using the interfaces provided by Smart.
  • Is there a changelog to see what changed over time in the app?
    See changelog
  • Does SMore# have access to my credentials?
Your Smart account username and password are used only for login. Usually, they are not stored in the app (you may use a password manager like Google SmartLock or Firefox but this is independent from SMore#). After logging in, SMore# uses so-called “tokens” to securely communicate with your car – no username/password is used anymore until this token runs out.
You may, however, use the ‘remember me‘ checkbox in the login dialog. With this, you agree that SMore# encrypts and locally stores your credentials for direct login. This is convenient for cases, where your access token becomes invalid. Also, when you log into another app or on another devices, your token becomes invalid, in which case SMore# will login you quickly, if you checked the ‘remember me‘ checkbox.
  • Why do I have to login again sometimes?
The token mentioned in the last answer will run out after some weeks/months, after which you will need to log in again with your username/password.
Also logging into another app or on another device will log you out on the current device.
TIP: see previous question on how the ‘remember me’ checkbox during login may help!
  • Can I associate my car to the Smart account through SMore#?
When you are logged out in the car, you can use the scanning function of SMore# through the menu item. Scan the QR code on the car’s head unit and SMore# will do the login.
  • Can I use the HelloSmart app in parallel to SMore#?
Keeping the HelloSmart app installed is useful (see next question) but if you start the HelloSmart app to control the car, you may likely be logged out of the SMore# app (we started observing this recently, throwing an error when trying to use both apps around the same time).
TIP: when this happens, simply login again with your username/password, as requested by SMore#
  • Why should I keep the HelloSmart app installed?
The functions SMore# provides are often provided much faster than the HelloSmart app, including the start and/or control of functions.
BUT we cannot do the following functions of HelloSmart:
    1. Receive notifications, e.g., on charging start/stop but also alarms – these alarms are tied to the HelloSmart app and are thus not received by SMore#
    2. Provide the digital key – this might be possible to port to SMore# at some point but is unlikely since it will require significant effort to find out the necessary communication between your mobile and your car.
  • How do I share locations to my Smart?
SMore# supports several ways to share location information to your Smart:
    1. Share from Google Maps: When on a location, press the ‘Share’ button and select SMore# in the share panel.
    2. Share from other apps: Other apps, like Contacts, EVCharge or other charging apps, support sharing location of, e.g., a charger. Here, also select SMore# from the share panel.
    3. Share text: If the address exists as text, e.g., in an email, mark the address and select ‘Share’ in the context menu and select SMore# in the share panel, once it appears.
    4. Share via quick tile: some apps, like Google Maps or Booking.com, copy an address by long clicking on it. After doing that, select the “Send to car” quick tile in your notification shade (after having added it there). A dialog will appear that asks you to confirm the address pasted and it will then be send.

If you share any information to SMore#, which cannot be interpreted by SMore#, a brief error message will be shown.
  • Why is the change of climate control elements (e.g., AC, seat heating or steering wheel heating) so slow?
In order for the climate control command to be accepted by your car, we must not send commands to the car while the climate control is ongoing, including a command to read new values. We therefore delay further command, which you will see as spinning symbols in the buttons you pressed.
TIP: If you experience problems with climate control commands not being executed properly (e.g., a seat heating is not changed to the level you indicated), we recommend to adjust the delay inbetween those command in the settings (under Climate rate control).
  • Why can I not see which comfort mode (e.g., pet or entertainment) is enabled?
Unfortunately, the Smart interfaces only provide information that a comfort mode is enabled but not which one (pet or entertainment) that would be.
  • How many climate favourites can I define?
Right now, we limit the favourites to ten.
  • Why is the humidity always 80%?
We included humidity as possibly interesting value but it seems right now stuck at 80%
  • Wait, how can I see the humidity?
If you click in the climate tab on the inside/outside values for temperature, the display changes to show inside PM and humidity values.
  • Why are the values in the dashboard so limited?
We selected those with useful information and grouped them somewhat usefully into the different groups.
NOTE: you will see a lot of information, e.g., on open doors and trunk as well as the openness of windows (shown in % being open) in the car view in the upper part of the dashboard tab
  • Why do I have to manually update the values?
When using the circle/sync symbol in the menu bar, you force an update of the values. But values are also updated when switching tabs and when starting the app or bringing the app from background to foreground.
  • When I update values, why is the date/time at the bottom not changing?
When the car is awake, an update also pulls new values from the car. But the car goes to sleep about 10 minutes after closing. The date/time shown at the bottom denotes the moment when the car delivered its last data to the Smart server, not the date/time you pressed the update button. We thought this being more useful since you then truly known when the last update was sent by the car!
  • Why can SMore# not use the units that I configured in the car?
Unfortunately, that information is not available through the Smart interfaces. We also want to give you the option to define units you want and not that are defined through the region of your mobile phone settings.
NOTE: you can change those units in the settings menu.
  • How can I provide feedback or ideas?
You can leave ideas in the Playstore reviews or you may send an email to the developer info in the Playstore. Lastly, you may participate in the two key forums that discuss this app, i.e., smart-1-forum and Smart Emotion
  • I want to see feature XYZ integrated in the future – but why can’t or won’t you do this?
Please do keep in mind that SMore# is a pure hobby effort, out of interest and desire to get a nice app that does a great job – for some/many ideas, there might simply be no time to follow up on them.
We welcome suggestions to improve SMore# in future releases. BUT
    1. some features might just not be possible (e.g., the Smart interfaces provide no information on what you want to see or do)
    2. some things are not desirable – this might be entirely subjective but is still key in deciding what is integrated and what not
    3. some things are REALLY difficult, e.g., in terms of code changes or additions
